Evenwise
Evenwise is a private budgeting app for Mac, iPhone and Android. It reads your receipts line by line and keeps every number encrypted on your own device.
One receipt, three categories
How Evenwise reads a supermarket ticket: line by line, each one to its category.

The problem
Budgeting apps either ask for your bank login and learn everything about you, or make you type every expense by hand. A supermarket receipt with fifteen items across four categories ends up as one vague entry.
Evenwise is for people who want an honest budget without handing their financial life to a company’s servers.
What I built
- One app for Mac and iPhone that adapts to each screen: a sidebar and a full spreadsheet-style view on the Mac, a simple list on the phone.
- An Android version with the same features, checked screen by screen.
- A receipt reader that splits a ticket item by item into the right categories.
- Face ID or fingerprint lock, statistics, reports and a built-in assistant.
- A website in four languages that loads instantly.
Key decisions
- 01
Encrypted from day one
Your data lives in an encrypted file on your device, and the key is kept in the system’s secure keychain. Even if someone copies the file, they cannot read it.
- 02
Works without internet
There is no server in the middle. The few things that need the internet, like exchange rates, are optional, and the app works perfectly without them.
- 03
Every decision written down
More than sixty documented decisions and a shared dictionary of words keep the app consistent across three platforms and two languages.
Where it stands
In development on all three platforms. The website is ready and will go public at launch.
